Our Inheritance, Our Culture, Our pride!

A soul of a country lies in its culture and heritage. India has a rich cultural heritage, a treasure trove from the past, we should find time to cherish. Sculpting, sculptures and particularly temple architecture across the various temples in southern India, exemplify this. Unfortunately, most of these sculptures have been stolen and sold to museums and collectors across the world which is denying us in knowing our culture and inheritance.

My paintings not only gives people an opportunity to appreciate our rich heritage, history and culture but also tries to bring awareness on the lost sculptures. Every painting is unique, built in multiple layers of 4-5, to get the sculpture and 3D effect of a real sculpture.

My current theme is on Chola Sculptures. The Cholas who ruled parts of southern India and southeast Asia were known for their Arts, Temple architecture and bronze sculptures. At their peak, between 8th to 12th century AD, their temple design reached great heights calling it the Golden Era.

Sathya is an artist par excellence. She has chosen an unusual genre to showcase her talent and in the process is creating awareness about the lost / stolen chola sculptures. I am extremely happy to own one of her gorgeous art work and wish her all the very best.

Love this Chola Period Bronze painting by Sathya Gowthaman #cornersinmyhome – many statues were taken out of India over the years and are now lost or in private hands.

Sathyas painting style caught my attention from the very start. I found the realism in her art very captivating. Haven’t seen much simplicity of complexity anywhere. Also her mission to preserve art & culture makes it such a memorable & purposeful addition to my art collection.
